A strong work ethic – A willingness to work hard. Learning the most
efficient way to complete tasks, and caring about your job.
|
Communication skills – speaking clearly, writing concisely,
expressing ideas in a constructive way, negotiation and the ability to debate,
emails, letters and fax, etc.
|
Confidence – Having the right skills and experience is essential, but
confidence is the want to show them off, to let people know you can do it.
|
Dependability and responsibility – Coming to work on time, being at
work when they’re supposed to be, letting supervisors know if you’ll be late
for any reason, etc.
|
Leadership and management skills – Sometimes you may be called upon
to lead a team, or lead your own company. Knowing how to manage conflict,
solve problems, delegate responsibilities, and so on, can increase team
spirit.
|
Proactivity – Showing an active interest in the role, and not waiting
to be told what to do (within reason).
|
Having a positive attitude – The more people that have a positive
attitude at work the more of a good environment that creates. Being motivated
to get the job done helps too.
|
Planning and research skills – the ability to plan ahead, to research
topics, setting goals and stretch targets, analysis etc.
|
Resilience – rolling with the punches, ad overcoming any barriers
that pop up.
|
Adaptability – being able to think on your feet, to adapt to any
situation, and adapting to your co-workers.
|
Analytical skills – the ability to look at a problem, think it
through, and devise a plan of action

Flexibility - being able to
change and adapt to any situation.
|
Honesty and integrity – Having the ability to say what you think, and
having strength in your beliefs.
|
English – knowledge of the English language, how to speak it, how to
write it, and how to interpret it. Since it’s the most common language in the
world, having this works really well.

Positivity – Attitude matters, and being positive at work increases
general productivity.
|
Self-motivation – Employers tend to look for people who need little
supervision and direction to get work done professionally. Having the self-belief
that you can do that is important.
|
ICT skills – in this modern age, having ICT skills is pretty much
needed for any job you might come across, and if it isn’t, it will be.
Knowing how to use a computer, using software and hardware, anything to do
with a computer really.

Initiative- Having the strength to take the first step in something.

Wanting to learn and grow – In the modern workplace, things are
constantly changing. New people come in, new knowledge, and new equipment
gets made. Wanting to learn to use it, to grow and keep up with the changes
is a good skill to have.

Maths – A basic knowledge of maths is ok, but for some jobs, you may
need to have more knowledge in a specific area, such as money.
|
Creativity- More than just having a good imagination, creativity is
being able to put your ideas into physical form, to make them real.
|
Self-confidence – Being self -confident often inspires others to do
the same. It’s not being afraid to ask questions. It’s also the thing that
helps people recognise their strengths and weaknesses.

Hard and soft skills – Soft skills are the skills that most projects
and jobs require. Hard skills are the more specific and technical skills that
specialist jobs and projects need.
|
Tolerance – having a fair, objective attitude to differences both in
and out of your control.
|
Professionalism – learning every aspect of a job and doing it to the
highest standard you can manage.
|
Interpersonal effectiveness – the ability to work with people, to
work with a team.
|
Dependable- worthy of trust, showing up at work on time, every time,
having a consistent work record.
|
Loyalty – a strong feeling of support or allegiance to a person,
company, or idea. Employees look for loyal people who are willing to stick
with them throughout their career.
|
Learning skills – knowledge that the world of work constantly
changes, and the required skills needed to adapt.
|
Determination – The ability to have your own thoughts and the
strength to see them through.
